I couldn't drive my 88 in the winter after all the work and my 59 88 is beyond a quick repair so I decided that the 64 109 I bought for a parts truck for the sand 88 was salvageable . Starting June 28 we had a month curtailment due to the covid so I started pulling the 109 apart and started the rebuild . Wire wheeled the frame and repaired the rust , wire wheeled every leaf of the springs greased them put them back together . Pulled the diffs apart , new swivel balls, wheel brgs ,seals ,wheel cyls , brakes etc . Then the body work and paint . Ended up using the motor out of the 59 as it was rebuilt 4 years ago and the transmission out of the 109 . Reused the existing wiring harness , the 109 was last insured in the early 70s . So iam hoping the transmission will be good . Found a broken halfshaft when I took it apart so iam thinking the previous owner must have parked it back then and never repaired it . He passed away the 109 was towed to the wreckers where another rover enthusiast bought it for parts for his build and I bought it from him for parts for my build . I ended up using quite a bit of pieces off my 59 to complete it . Almost done now just the Koenig to go on and some little pieces , hopefully be driving it next week . Built it in 3 months , lot of hours and help from my wife and a buddy who's welder we used to repair the frame .
