Make Sure You're Properly Insured - ICBC Modified Vehicle Status

#1 Post by bclandrover » Mon Nov 11, 2019 10:39 am

I have recently been reminded once again that ICBC has a "modified vehicle" status and the forms appear to have been updated recently.

I suspect your insurance could be VOID if you have not properly insured for modifications to your Land Rover.

Here is the conditions that would require "modified vehicle" status according to the form on ICBC's website:
A motor vehicle must be registered as a modified motor vehicle of a manufacturer's make if the motor vehicle (passenger or light commercial):
• has the shell of body, coach or cab from the original manufactured motor vehicle; and
• has an altered body that resembles, but is no longer identical in appearance to the original body of the motor vehicle; or
• has had one or more of the following components replaced or altered:
– suspension (if altered more than 10 cm)
– frame
– drivetrain
– engine
– steering
– braking mechanical component (disk brakes)
– fuel type.
