2 1/4 series 3 electronic distributor
Hello all. I’m thinking about throwing away my ducelier distributor and upgrading to something more reliable. Probably something without points. Something electric.
Does anybody know what is the best one to go with and where to get them? Thanks

I upgraded my Series 1 distributor with a Pertronix "Ignitor" points replacement kit. Works perfectly & haven't touched it since.

I bought a SimonBBC electronic ignition from England. I also had British Vacuum Unit refurb my DM2, adjust the mechanical advance, overhaul the vac advance and as part of the service Rob also provides top-shelf new points and a custom made condenser, which I will carry as spares.

Last year leaving Van Duesen, our 88 with Petronix took a dump right on Oak st. We pulled over and after diagnosing what it was, pulled out the brand new points distributor from under the front seat, put it in and returned home. Just a thought to think about...... What are you going to do on a Sunday afternoon if the Petronix goes out?

I'm with Roverlass. Electronic anything typically works better than than its mechanical counterpart, until it doesn't. Mechanical points distributors will normally give you lots of warning before they fail completely.

That's probably the best advice.

I've used the Petronix ignitor systems for years in Lucas distributors and never had any issues with any of them. Only in Minis though not Rovers but basically the same distributor. My two cents!
