‘Yale’ the Series III
Happy Spring. I recently purchased the beast I am going to call Yale from it’s original owner in the Lower Fraser Canyon. While I am living out of province, the fine gents at Hesp are giving her a once over to see what is necessary to make sure she is road worthy.
It looks like she is a one owner, LHD import as built, gas 2.5, overdrive installed, 10-15 year old galvanized chassis, Warn hubs, a radiator takeoff heater in the cargo bay, but otherwise generally stock, with a minor bit of body patina and dings. The PO has some significant memory loss, so not all is known or clear.
Future hopeful upgrades will include a canvas top, upsizing the 15” original rims to 16”. Open to any advice or input on must do stuff, or available 16” rims and soft top parts! I am also curious as to why this one has the oversize turn signal lights - haven't seen that anywhere before...

Re: ‘Yale’ the Series III
Hi and welcome along.
Smart looking Land Rover.
My old series iii had the same large diameter indicator lights (bigger than those fitted in Europe). I believe it was a North American market requirement, to do with safety, same goes for the lights on the sides of the wings and rear tub.

This is correct, they were also fitted to the late IIA's from '69 to '71. The sidelights only made it onto '71 IIA's, the '69 and '70 model years only got the larger indicator lamps.Rambler wrote:Hi and welcome along.

Smart looking Rover :occasion5:
Will you be back in BC in time for Founders Day Event 14th April? It would be great to get a close up look around.
cheers,
Andy

Regrettably, no. Hoping to be able to get to some of the events from June onwards.ANDYD wrote:Smart looking Rover :occasion5:

The chaps at Hesp did a great job giving the old girl a once-over. No major issues reported, but lots of bizarre electrical add-ons were taken off.
Put some solid miles on since coming over the island from Vancouver, up to Parksville and back to Victoria. The only casualty was the speedo cable and my hearing :) Gotta set to work on the noise shorts and some basic sound deadening to make it a little more manageable, but ear plugs are going to be "a thing."
Swapped the 15"s for 16"s, purchased from Spencer and fresh fresh off his recently imported 130 - thanks dude. Bought an older Warn 8274 in Parksville - now I need a mount. Other than going whole-hog for a Pangolin custom bumper, anyone got any modest recommendations for a mounting setup for the Warn? Also looking for some advice on why the rear door won't lock.
On arrival in Victoria, we found a somewhat lonely friend - I'd seen this Series IIa in the same place 2 years ago - anyone know who it is?

That looks like Matt’s lovely little 88 Station Wagon.
