Recommended vehicle importers from U.K. to BC

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a vehicle importer to assist with getting a 110 defender from the UK to Vancouver. I'm totally new to this and am finding lots of agents for Japanese vehicles but not much for British. Many thanks in advance,

I'd like to get to know an importer as well and if there's any difference in importing a vehicle from Germany or Spain as opposed to the UK where the steering wheel is on the wrong side

I just did this last year:

Sole dedicated 20ft container. A tiny bit more expensive but also safer and more secure. Also directly into Vancouver, destuffed, CBSA cleared and warehoused within 24hours of the container arriving. I drove it away the next day with insurance that allows me to move it directly to an inspector. 2 days later after a couple of modifications (reflectors, third break light, battery hold down etc) I was able to go to Westland Insurance and register and insure it.

I used http://www.livingstonintl.com as a customs broker. Again a few dollars but the efficiency in getting all the paperwork and customs clearance was highly efficient and well done. All my fees were kept to a very minimum and avoided delays with customs and destuffing which meant my port and warehousing fees were next to nothing.

Mine was a LHD D90 from the UK. I had a friend drop it off at the port where Fastland Forwarding inspected, ensured it was clean enough, containered, secured, sealed and shipped the container.

I used A&A transport in Richmond. The arranged everything including the customs. How much did it end up costing to use http://www.fastlanefwd.co.uk?

As for bring a truck in from England I would say that is not a great idea unless its the one you drove through Africa and ares somehow emotionally attached. Look into all the LHD countries classifieds and go from there.

Germany a terrible place to get a Defender. Heavy salt use and it will have a ton of rust. Rust is like cancer it just keeps spreading and you'll end up having to replace and weld in new crossmembers etc.

That really leaves Spain and Italy. Personally I think spain is the way to go because there is very little rain. Aluminum body + ungalvinized steel frame + water = a battery. The down side of a hot arid country is that a lot of the sealent around the body work will be dried out and crack so there will be water leaks to deal with.
