Air to coil conversion

#1 Post by chrismontez » Tue Nov 15, 2016 2:38 pm

Hello
I have contacted Arnott and Atlantic British LTD looking for an air to coil conversion kit for a 2006 LR3 V6 without any luck. They only have kits for the V8. Does anyone know of another manufacturer that does have kits for a V6?

The facts as I understand them...

1 - Generally speaking, Atlantic British is the world leader for Landrover Air to Coil Conversion kits. If they don't have a turn key solution I doubt it exists.

2 - The Discovery 3 / LR3 was originally manufactured with coil spring struts for other world markets.

3 - The V6 and V8 air strut assembly's are the same part number. The only difference is a change in the rear strut assembly part number between 2006 and 2007, which is odd, because separately the damper(strut) and air spring part numbers are the same from 2005 to 2009 V6 and V8. Perhaps Atlantic British V8 coil kit you refer to has an issue with how they trick the computer.

4 - ICBC "may" consider an air to to coil suspension conversion a "modification" and you may be required to apply for "modified vehicle" status to ensure you do not void your insurance. http://www.icbc.com/vehicle-registratio ... icles.aspx

Hope that helps.

In that case, why not just buy it from Atlantic British directly for about the same price? At least you'd get the warranty and support from the original manufacturer.
