new member, need help with light problems

Hi all,

New rover lander and new to the forum. Hoping someone can help me out.

I have a 97 Disco I bought as a salvage/rebuild and I done all the repair work, it was light front end. Now just getting ready to go for it structural integrity and provincial test, and this is where the problem starts.
Even though the vehicle was previously registered in BC it doesn't have daytime running lights, so my solution was to fit a couple of led strips to the front bumper. I need to provide a power source for these when th ignition turns on. Anyone have any ideas on an access able power source not too far from the front of the engine I can spur of off?
Also my other issue is also light related. My rear fogs keep blowing the fuse every time I try and turn them on! I put a 10amp fuse in, as per the fuse box stated rating, press the switch and it blows. Now just to get it through the test I thought I would try a 15amp, same thing happened. Also tried a 20amp too. I am reluctant to put ever increasing fuses in it just to get it through the test, seems a bit bloody dangerous with risk of fire. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and could offer some advice.

Thank to anyone who can help, I have 2 and 4 year old boys who are absolutely itching to go out for a drive is the truck, and I'm afraid vehicle electrics is a bit of a dark science to me.

Thanks from,

Rob, Weller aged 4 and Jackson aged 2.

out of curiosity , are the headlights not also daytime running lights ? the blown fuse problem is a direct short in your wires to the light.

I have a 97 Disco, the daytime lights are located in the headlamp housing and are extremely small, you may just need new ones to plug in. When I'm home, I'll take a photo and send it to you.
