I have the camshaft out of a 2.25L petreol series engine, and a block from a 90/100 2.25L. Does anyone know if the cam is interchangeable or do I need to buy a new cam for the 90/110 block?
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks,
Andy

Re: Help with 2.5 Petrol engine rebuild
As far as I know the camshafts are interchangeable. However I've read where people are putting the 2.5 cams into the 2.25 engines to improve the performance. I believe the valves are held open longer allowing better breathing. You may find the 2.25 cam doesn't work quite as well in the 2.5.
If you don't want to buy a new cam, I can put you in touch with a fellow that has several 2.5 engines and he may have a good used one.

The 2.5L cam is a worthwhile improvement if you are going to buy a new one.
