I was poking about under the hood of my 1963 109 5 door today and found this (see pic). I have a 2.25L petrol engine which i think is stock. I think this mystery item is a vacuum boost for the brakes? I've never seen one that isn't bolted to the pedal in some way. It looks like this was aftermarket and at the moment isn't hook up to anything.

Ideas?
