Rover-Landers Club Run - March 24th 2013

#1 Post by ANDYD » Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:59 pm

Hi All,

We will be having a local one day run on Sunday 24th March.
The weather forecast is showing sunshine (yeh!) so book the day off and come out and have some fun in the Mountains!

The location, meeting time, more details will be posted Thursday evening after the Club gathering at Tug boat Annies.

Cheers,
Andy

It was a good "Event Planning gathering" yesterday evening at Tugboat Annies Bar and grill, thanks to all those who came out and participated.
We have a full year calendar of events which I will upload into our website calendar over the next few days.

This Sunday March 24th we will have a one day run in the Mission area, the details are;
Where - Davis Lake & East Stave Lake - Mission BC
When - Sunday March 24th meeting between 9am and 9.30am - Departing 9.30am sharp
What - Our first stop will be Davis Lake, then moving along to the SE corner of Stave Lake for Lunch on the Lost Creek Delta. The road is tight but passable with big puddles and mud. We will have some BBQ grills on the go at lunch which everyone is welcome to throw on their hot dogs / burgers / T-bone steaks! Alternatively bring along a packed lunch or pick up Tims along the way.

Meeting location - Tim Hortons on 1 Ave in Mission.

Bring your sunglasses and camera ....... See you there!

Thanks for all the planning, Andy. It looks like an exciting future. :D The raft looks particularly exciting. Anyone got a life preserver big enough to fit a Disco 1?

I've been shopping, and I've got a dozen hot dogs and buns, so definitely enough for sharing.

Just for a change, I'll try very hard NOT to get lost this time.

also, is this a land rover only event or can other vehicles join in as well?

Jikjak,

The club has been pretty flexible as to make. We had a Land Rover F150 tearing up the Whipsaw

Land Rovers are great stock. I wouldn't worry. Series IIs and Freelanders have kept up with the rest just fine. All other models are too common to mention. The only problem I've ever run into has been low profile tyres off road - you keep going fine, but the rims can take a beating.

I went as a passenger for a few runs, just to get the feel of it. That works too.

awesome, some friends that i usually go wheeling with might want to join in on the run as well. we were planning on where to go this sunday when i came across this thread.
my rims have already taken a beating and so have some body parts but so far the rover is holding its own.
btw what time does the run end?

Jikjak, There shouldn't be anything too hard for your RR to handle, just take it slow and steady.

We plan to be Back on the asphalt around 4 PM (ish).

Cheers,
Andy

Hey Andy and company,

Unfortunately I am going to have to bail on tomorrows day trip as I am going to go closer to home in the squamish region..

Safe Travels,

Good to have you along, great to see the new Range Rover going through the rough stuff with the rest.

It was a great turn out, 15 trucks enjoying the twisty, wooded, tight roads under the glorious BC sunshine.
We did a challenging loop through the woods to East Stave Lake, Davis Lake, MacDonalds Falls and back to the road.
Tug straps, winches and even High lifts jacks all saw some action .... great day out, my photos will be posted soon. If you have any to share send them in and we will put them up in the Gallery.

Cheers,
Andy
