1996 Disco Tdi300 - after market radio/cd player?

#1 Post by shai » Wed Jan 18, 2012 9:08 pm

Hello all,

I recently got a Right hand drive 96 Disco 300 Tdi fitted with a japanese FM band factory radio/cassette player.

I am wondering if you can get after market radio/CD/Aux input stereos that can be wired to respond to the dashboard radio control buttons.

Also, where do you get these elusive special allen keys that can pull the radio out? Can any small enough screw driver do the job?

Thanks

Hi Shai,

The radio removal allen keys (at least on mine) were just a standard small allen key. Just try a few different sizes until you feel one "bite".

As far as after market radios that will work with the LR switches, not too sure? If you can make it to Founders Day on Saturday in Cloverdale I'm sure you will see lots of other owners set ups & will get some good advice.

Cheers, Andy

An aftermarket deck will not accept the dash controls.
I would think that if you got the AM/FM/Cassette deck from a North American Disco the controls would work.
Also get the stock CD stacker as its all Pioneer!
Mine works great & the 6 disc cartrage from my house stereo works in the Disco.
