Series One at Aircare

#1 Post by swamijake » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:35 pm

I tried to take my '56 series one through Aircare. I went through three times, and have yet to pass, but I also have yet to fail. It drove great from my place the 15 or so km to the testing station, but once on the rollers, it was stalling for the technician.

We pushed it outside and they refunded my test fee because they couldn't test it. I managed to drive home very slowly with the rover stumbling every half minute.

I put in a new fuel filter (which was completely full of rusty crud, problem solved. Back to Aircare, runs great the whole way, stalls as soon as the tech starts the test!

Drove home stumbling all the way. I drove my vw to the parts store and bought 4 more filters. Next free day I have it will make it through.

On the plus side it runs great with a clean filter.

You may want to drain the fuel tank.
