Hopefully you will find ex-military D90's a lot harder to break than your old cilvilian Series.....

Andy got it right! A 1986 90 2.5NA 5 speed, olive drab green with a canvas top. Originally an FFR but with the 24v alternator removed.

I'd take you for a ride Reza but there's no key just yet and according to the rumour mill, it doesn't run. I'll have to look into things a bit. Something about a starter motor and there seems to be an excess of oil running down the rear wheels.

It took all day to buy them and get them home. Thanks Green Rover Guy and Dormy for the help. "Them?" Oh- didn't I mention I also bought an 80"? A project car with more than a few things missing but partly restored. I don't know which one I'll be spending most of my time on in the near future, probably the 90 for now so I can drive to work over the winter.

I've been collecting Series parts for the last ten years and a bulk purchase of parts from a guy in Victoria at the beginning as well as some recently acquired, I may have enough parts to finish the 80. Give enough time and patience to work out the puzzle of what goes where.

You don't need a key to start an ex-MOD 90.... No steering lock. Jump power across the ignition or to the fuel solenoid and a little push.

Not the first time my D2 has had to pull that particular Defender 90 out of a "sticky situation"... last time was out of the mud on Mt. Slicker...

Thanks again Rob for getting me out of a sticky place. Who needs a tow truck when you've got Rob and the plushmobile.

I got the motor sort of running today. A couple of issues with the battery, ignition issue, a bit of wiring to chase and check, a bit of injection pump adjustment, some bleeding (diesel, not blood), take the dash apart a bit and after a while, she came to life. Feels good! Wow! Talk about some black smoke! I know that if you let the smoke out of a wire or other electrical appliance it isn't good for it, but what if you let the smoke out of your Land Rover?

congrats Greg. That is a nice truck. My defender farted a big black wet one on my garage door that seems impossible to remove so watch where you point that thing.
