Bonnet safety catch anyone?

#1 Post by 5spd » Fri Aug 06, 2010 9:13 pm

Hello all,

I just moved back to Victoria from Edmonton. While getting my truck safetied here they demanded I have a bonnet safety catch. I have ordered one from UK but in the meantime, does anyone have a spare bonnet or a loaner part so I can slap it on and pass the test? Victoria area preferably.

I need just the safety catch, not the cable bonnet release. Apparently the two spring hold downs on either side don't cut the mustard.

The truck is a D110 Ex Mod, 200TDI, everything else pretty stock.

I am still exploring the site, but wondered if you South Island guys meet routinely? Edmonton pub nights were a hoot and good for swapping expertise and parts. I'd like to start making contact with other folks in the south island, so please give me a bell.

Chris. I had a look at a J**P bonnet safety catch. It should be real easy to adapt one, it only attaches with one bolt. Any auto wrecker would have one.

South Island get together? We had a great social evening last month at Cobble Hill. The 22nd (?) there is the Filberg Festival at Comox that some rovers go to on occasion. I said I'd arrange a special tour in August, maybe the 28 or 29th. I still have to make arrangements with the owners.

I believe Filberg festival is already over unless there is a different one. is that what its going to take to get you guys to travel up island, a festival. how about a comox valley rover (and Iltis) festival? lol.
wish i had some time to look for some trails here for you guys.

I miss Edmonton nights...

I may have a series hood catch, i will have a look for it if you dont find anything.

This weekend there is a English car show, that I thought was at the same time as the Filberg.

Old English Car Club: Comox Valley branch hosts this event.
