Hi World Travelers.

Arriving in Vancouver YVR

Canada Line YVR AddFare Effective for Cash Fares Beginning January 18, 2010
The Canada Line YVR AddFare for rapid transit service from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) will be in effect starting Monday, January 18. The $5 AddFare will apply to anyone purchasing cash fare tickets at any of the Canada Line stations at the airport for travel from the airport to Richmond or Vancouver. Ticket vending machines at the Canada Line airport stations will automatically charge the correct amount.
People carrying any TransLink pass (DayPasses, Monthly FareCards or annual passes such as the U-Pass, Government Bus Pass or Employer Pass) or using pre-paid FareSaver tickets won't need to pay the AddFare.

You can not buy any other ticket @ the machines!!!! The day pass button has been removed.

You Can buy a day pass @ 7-Eleven for a $1.75 more & ride all day any where.

The 7-Eleven is located in the Domestic terminal on the ground floor below the baggage carousels down the escalator on route to the car park beside the B.C. Liquor store.

Extra $5 when using the Canada Line from the airport..

#2 Post by ANDYD » Sat Jan 23, 2010 3:24 pm

Hi Stuart,

Yes, I'm not suprised they added the extra $5 airport surcharge for departures from the airport. The Airport chipped in $300 million to have the Canada Line taken out to the airport and they want some of it back!

Probably makes sense collecting it from Vancouvers visitors (Olympics will bring in a lot of them!) rather than collecting it from Vancouvers Tax payers

The contributions to the Canada Line budget comes from the following sources:

Government of Canada: $450 million
Government of British Columbia: $435 million
Vancouver Airport Authority: $300 million
TransLink: $334 million
City of Vancouver: $29 million
