My suggestion is to check-out the Ottawa Valley Land Rover site as they have a large section regarding rover electrics (the electrics info page can be found at http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/index.html#ELECTRICS ). Positive ground is not all bad as rover lights, wipers, heaters and such don't really mind the ground either way though modern electronics, stereos, radios and such are not positve cround compatible. On the plus side there is a school of thought that suggest that positve ground will slow the corrosion of a rover chassis. Frankly, if you plan on adding any electric powered accessories I'd consider ditching the old generator and go for a modern alternator as it provides more power (and negative ground as well).
Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.
