Seals!

#1 Post by dfritter » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:16 pm

So, $900 worth of weatherstripping, clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder and other assorted goodies arrive this morning, and after paying the Point Roberts Piper his $103 in taxes, I've opened the box to reveal that every piece of rubber is merely labelled "seal."

It's like the big black jigsaw puzzle from hell!

I've managed to match most of the part numbers up with their corresponding locations, now it's just fighting with the old rusted rivets. But, it's providing me with an excellent opportunity that replace the crappy old hardware with stainless stuff and aluminum rivets. I'm excited though, once it's all in place, it should be a hell of a lot quieter! I just wish it was a little sunnier for my first roof removal

Of course, the day after I get that giant magical box? It pours.

I took the Rover down to the store today to pick up food, and made the unfortunate discovery that my Series III also provides mobile showers to any front seat occupants as you drive. Ugh. I am now quite wet.

Oh, and my steering wheel is really, really gross when it's damp.

Wet Top ...

Ha, the life of the Series Land Rover owner is so much fun!

Yes, I remember getting caught with the top down in the rain a few times in my 2a and and as soon as the steering wheel gets wet it gets really sticky  It must be the coating of grease it gets from always having oily hands!

One good thing is, as easily as the water comes into the drivers area, it just as easily finds its way out through the floor
