Just for Aart

#1 Post by Dave_F » Wed Jan 09, 2008 11:57 am

I was over at Rovertech yesterday, chatting with Bill_E, and Aart happened by to drop off some parts for Don.

As Aart walked by the rear of my truck I could tell the "land rover purist" in him was taken aback by the cluge job that the previous owner had done with the Pintle.

So in the true fashion of keeping my truck "clean" on the way home stopped off at Canadian Tire picked up a grinder and spent the next couple of hours getting the steel plate welded on the Pintle off.

All in all it came off pretty easily, other than one kick back that left a nice divot in one of my fingers...ouch.

So here in all it's "restored" glory (?) is my Pintle.

Huh, can't figure why Aart might have paused for moment when catching sight of that.

Hi Dave,

Looks much better now .... what was the previous owner thinking when he welded that on there

Thats quite the pintle hook, reminds me of the hook up between carriages on the old locomotives :!:

cheers,
Andy

I wonder how many of us have responded like guilty schoolboys under Aart's disapproving glance? (my hand raised here) I think it speaks volumes for the respect we have for him, that we scurry around to fix our steeds and proudly show them off as we slowly expunge the PO's bodges. Here's to you Aart, long may you continue to inprove the breed!
See you all at Founders Day (if my truck makes it!)
Peace
