Selling Canadian Land Rover to an American

#1 Post by czawada » Wed Nov 14, 2007 1:51 pm

Hi, was just wondering if anyone has gone through this and what needs to be done to make it happen.

I have someone in the US seriously interested in my 109 and I want to make sure I have all bases covered, I also figured some people here have probably done this in the past.

Thanks.

Depends on how much work you want to do to sell to the person in the states... easiest is to have them collect it and let them import it into the states... Or you can get a broker to do all the paperwork and have that ready to go for the customer to pick up and take south with the truck. Or you could just drive it across the line and deliver it and let him take care of the rest. as far as selling to the us it is no prob for us, as long as the customer wants it and can get it across the line.
I delivered one a couple years ago into north Dakota customer didn't want any paperwork as they had a title for a truck they parted out. you can call us customs and ask for there ideas/ requirements.

I sold my 109 to a guy in the US, make sure the money has cleared before handing over the vehicle, this guy wanted to drive to Portland on my plates.....umm no!

If you sell a landrover to someone who has never owned one and has an inflated view of the myths around them, expect some grief.
