Bit of a puzzle on mid sixties-early seventies 2.25 cyl heads.Thought both intake & exhaust valve spring retainers & keepers are all the same.That's what it shows in parts book.
Just took apart a head for rebuild & it has an odd 2 pce retainer for intake valve spring.even the keepers are slightly different.Exhaust is as per normal.So I took the valve cover off another engine I have from a 72 series 3,the same odd 2 pce retainer.It is literally like a smaller retainer inside a main retainer with the keepers inside the smaller retainer?I am new to rover engines but would have thought the parts book would show some kind of alternate retainer setup?This isn't some weird upgrade or North American export thing is it.LOL.Any thoughts.
