#1 Post by 96whitedisco » Sat Mar 18, 2006 12:53 am

Heres the deal my wife and i have a house in Powell River and we have done some exploering and there are some amazing sights. Im offering our House as a start point to go and explorer! IM sure you all have the back woods map. Our house at this point has sleeping for 8 and we have access to more houses for sleeping.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT SOME TIME THIS SUMMER WE COULD HEAD OUT AND EXPLORE?

I MAY HAVE POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG SPOT!

Hi Andrew,

it sounds like a good idea! At Thursday night's meeting we planned an additional trip on the schedule on April 1, 2 to the Sunshine Coast.

Details will be posted shortly. That means we would likely switch our trip to the sunshine coast later in the year to another destination. Powell River might work well for that.

Stacey and i will be at the house that weekend, it will take you 4 hours and 2 ferries to get up to our house thats why we head up on a friday night usually the 7:20 pm ferrie. If you check out the back woods map for B.C lower mainland you can see all the trails up around powell river. one of our favs is physco slab and it take just over an hour to get there. look up powell river rock climbing on the net., while i was out checking this area out i found a road that no one has traveled in a while it took me up so high the area became heaviley grassed over and being by ourselves we stopped, but the view was amazing and the trail kept going up.
If you want you are more than welcome to come up and hang out and i will be more than happy to be the tour guide. Stacey has her cooking papers and used to work in the number one resturant in toronto years ago so im sure she can cook us up a feast.
To have fun up here it will have to be a weekend trip, we have a large back yard with a fire pit
email me or give me a call if anyone is interested in coming up that weekend.

ANY QUESTIONS GIVE ME A CALL AT 604-968-5440

Cheers
Andrew

Andrew, we've already tentatively planned for this trip to head over to the church camp just NW of Sechelt. I was thinking heading further afoot like Powell River in the fall.

But I'm always open to suggestions. Guys, what do you think?

I'm all up for accepting Andrew's generous offer. I will be great to check out some new territiory with a knowledgable local for a guide. It would be nice to do a run up there before it gets too bloody cold. Any thoughts regarding fitting something in a little earlier.

Which weekend are you grounded? I was looking at the calendar and noticed that we don't have a BC Day gig. What do you think?

Was referring to April 1,2 as thats the weekend that we are planning the current trip to Sechelt. I guess the question we have to decide is whether to head to Powell River and meet up with Andrew April 1,2 or continue with the original plan of going to the church camp and taking up Andrew on his offer later in the year.

In any event, I can't go April 1,2, but that doesn't mean you guys can't...

I'm personally up for sticking with the church camp as planned but definately taking Andrew up on his offer in summer some time, perhaps BC Day weekend as a suggestion. I'm not that picky however, so if the rest want to go on the April date that is fine by me.

I think we should do the bible camp on the 1 and 2 ,
do Powell River later, by the sounds of it we need a long weekend for that trek.

so who is going to the Bible Camp trip??

I'm up for the Bible camp trip on the 1st & 2nd but wont be able to head out until Sat late afternoon or very early Sunday morning so I was planning to meet you guys overthere (somewhere!). How high elevation is the bible camp? Are we likely to be hitting snow on the way there?

Andrews offer sounds great but I agree we should plan it a little later in the year because we would hit snow real fast when exploring (like last years Sunshine run). BC day weekend (Aug 5-7th) sounds like a good suggestion Bill.

So back to Kris's question, who's going & where can we meet?

cheers, :D
Andy

I think Powel River sounds great for later in the year. I plan on making on the 2nd although I’m trying to head over on Saturday. That is of course if my bl**dy windshield problems stop… my new windshield lets Vancouver’s rain fall into the passenger compartment…pools on the center consul & passenger foot well.

Paul you'll get no sympathy from me over a little bit of water in from your window. I will be coming over saturday morning which I think is the plan , catch the first or second ferry and head on to the the camp?
I like the idea of a Powell River run in Aug. I'm all for Stacey cooking up a feast. Reminds me of Jim and Carla's breakfast on the Okanagan run.
First ferry leaves at 7:20 2nd one leaves at 9:20 any one for the 7:20 it's ok by me.

HI All!
Stacey and i are up at our house every long weekend in the summer and almost every second weekend of the month, except when we have dragon boat races.
Figure out a date and we will make sure we are up there.

Cheers

One more thing I didnt mean to disrupte this weeks up coming trip.
This trip will need to be discussed as its a 2 ferrie trip that takes 4 hours to get up to powell river thats why its best to leave on a friday night.
There are alot of lakes in powell river, check out the powell river canoe route and if any one has a backpackers guide you can see all trails and lakes. Everyone will have to decide if we use our house as a base camp then head up into the moutains, most of the round trip trails take between 4 to 6 hours.
There is also camping every lake has at least one camp ground.
If there is enough interest I will skip a dragon boat practice for one of your thursday meeting and can bring some photos and more info on the trails we have checked out.

Cheers
Andrew

I am in for both days for the church camp. I will even attempt it in the Range Rover....yikes! I still remember leaving marks in the steering wheel of my SII for two years ago.
