Series 1 differentials

Hi gang, not mine but found on Facebook market place.
5-series 1 differentials 4.70 ratio from a 1948, he is asking $250 each. In Kamloops
His name is Duane Hansma.

Interesting. They might actually be 1948 Series 1 differentials.

This is a '48 Long nose diff:

Notice the casting difference by the input shaft. Its not very clear in the seller's pic, but they do look like long nose castings.

He states the ratios are 4.7:1, but long nose diffs were 4.88:1. Long nose gears are not interchangeable with later diffs, so it may just be an error on his part. Anyhow, if they are '48s, they are a rare find.

Just my 2 cents..... :?

I'm not on facebook. So would those bolt into a '51 ?? and would the driveshafts have to be shortened?
