Rally In the Valley 2020: Social Distance Special!
Hi all, just wondering if there would be any interest in a socially distant rally on the 12th to 14th of June. Dates are not set in stone yet I am fairly flexible.
Would be a similar event to last year with a non-scratch run on Saturday followed by a scratch run on the Sunday.
Due to social distancing, we'd have to adhere to the law of no more than 50 people together in one place, but I doubt that we will gather that many. Also means that we'd have no potluck dinner Saturday night or breakfast Sunday, you'd have to fend for yourselves.
The property has plenty of space to spread around a park far away from each other.
Let me know if you are interested and if enough of us want to get together I will start planning routes.

Hi Colin
I will be there for some of the event but it might be just Saturdays social distancing dinner.
Both of my dormobiles are still out of commission, one sleeping the other in many pieces. I will park the mustang in the Non- British parking area so as not to ruin the view on the field.

Re: Rally In the Valley 2020: Social Distance Special!
It is going to be a smaller rally this year but we have enough people to make it happen!
Saturday we will meet for 9:00 am for the drivers meeting and depart at 9:30 am to the Plane crash site behind Lake Cowichan.
Sunday we will meet at 9:00 am for another drivers meeting and then leave around 9:30 to explore the lower road of Mt. Sicker and play around there.
Hope to see you there!
Remember to bring a chair and a shovel, as well as a lunch. A radio is recommended but not required, we should be staying in a pack.

Hi Colin, I'm in for Sunday for sure. Might even come up later Saturday afternoon and camp the night, we shall see.
Lets hope the rains hold off as well.

Great times for sure! Bummed I broke half way through the trail on Sunday, but such is life.
Special thanks to everyone that helped drag my ass out of the trail.
Poppy will be fixed and live to see another day.

Re: Rally In the Valley 2020: Social Distance Special!
Thanks to everyone who came it was another great year! Not the biggest turnout but I still had a really fun time.
The plane crash was very interesting to see in person, I had heard about it for years but this was the perfect opportunity to go see it.

Sunday's scratch run was a lot of fun, thank you Greg for teaching us an advanced winching course and recovering Frank's 88 up the hill and everyone else who got him out to the tarmac. Hopefully your gearstick is reattached now!

Re: Rally In the Valley 2020: Social Distance Special!
Let’s see. Series vehicles, eh. Hmmm. Some field repairs are ALWAYS to be expected..... :bounce:
Broken, previously welded, gearshift lever - that’s why you need to keep vice grips handy to clamp onto the itty-bitty stud, so you can still shift.
Broken 1/2 shaft. Relatively common on our decades old vehicles with heavy use. Put the vehicle into 4 high, unbolt the driveshaft and put it into the back, drive carefully the 40 klicks out of the bush (with the occasional tug from friends) and then drive home as normal.
Sorry voice of experience.... :spinning:======== :spinning:
Glad to see you guys had lots of “fun”. :D

Meanwhile... the coilers at the back just hang-out and chill until the winch play is over!

Hi Franko
So what's up with the transmission? (Thats the T word we are not supposed to mention correct)? Sorry.
We all want to know how many extra pieces you found inside. The suspense is driving us crazy.
