Island Ho!

#1 Post by dchsw » Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:58 am

I know this has dragged on, but three years after applying for an Imigration Visa one has finally been approved by your (soon to be my) government and 2006 is the year my family and I finally arrive on the Island. Yippee!

Amongst all the other things that need to sorted out I have to find a temporary home for my two oldest Landies whilst we get our stuff sorted out, build a house, that kind of thing.

So, if anyone in the vicinity of Cobble Hill is the happy position of having barn/garage space for a couple of 80" series ones for an indeterminate length of time (my plan was to build the barn for the Landies before the house, but the wife put her foot down) then please drop me an e-mail.

More generally, I'd be thrilled to get in touch with anyone on the Island so I can tag along to drives/meets/etc. when we're settled in.

Cheers, David

Hmmm' Besides the school thing--- I'll check with my wife to see if part of the lower barn could be cleaned out for a couple of 80"er's. Will they be here in time for the "Lagger in the Valley" June 10 & 11 this year? (If we have it again.) They will only have a dirt floor but we could put down some mill felt or something. Do they need a climate controlled atmosphere? (Won't get one here!)

Greg,

Don't bust a gut making space, but if you do find some that would be fantastic. Dirt floor is more than fine. They live outside on my suburban driveway just now, so they'll think they've died and gone to heaven if they get a barn corner to themselves!

Actually, one of them is on the drive. The other one is on the drive, in the shed, down the side passage, and stacked in the garage. Oh, and the brand new bulkhead has pride of place in the spare room.

I took it apart last year to give it a new chassis and, as if I didn't have enough on my plate right now, I have to get it back together again in the next twelve weeks or so as it's kind of hard to roll-on-off a pile of bits!

We'll definitely be there by June, so count me in for "Lagger in the Valley".

Cheers, David.
