Having a sort out. Lucas starter motor for early series 1 Land Rover. The shaft moves smoothly, but would likely need stripping to clean up 50 years of grime, and to assess. Date stamped 09/50.
Other numbers are 2551 4D M418G and G76, 12V. Can be fitted to later series 2, 2A and 3 models, as the same bolt pattern.
$40 plus shipping, obo.

Can’t be for 50, 80 inch uses a different starter.

I believe that none of the Series Ones used this starter, irrespective of its date of manufacture. Lucas made this model from 48-50 for a variety of makes and models. Most likely it came from a Rover 60 or 75 sedan.
