Hi all,
Thought I'ld pass along a quick and easy repair for a Defender mirror. I had a broken glass which because it was a double convex shape didn't seem to be available locally or easily/cheaply. So I took the plastic frame apart, boiled the mirror housing for about 30 - 40 seconds then, removing the housing from the boiling water immediately bent the thing in the opposite direction by a little more than the original curvature. I did this over the curved edge of the kitchen counter (when my wife wasn't home...) and as it cooled I then set the piece under the cold water from the tap. Then I fitted a piece of flat mirror glass in and voila! A little spread out at the sides, but with the rubber rataining ring/seal on you can't tell the difference. Since this will go at the driver's side, a stick on ball mirror will do me just fine.
Hope this helps some one.
Cheers
