So it all started when I needed to replace the passenger side wiper wheel box assembly...which turned into replacing both (dash was down anyways) and the gear inside the wiper motor....so then I got brave.
For the last couple/three years...every time I turned on the heater control, there would be an awful squeal. I figured, it was time to remove the heater box/evaporator ( I have a Defender with factory AC)....and inspect the blower/motor.... well...
What I wasn't expecting was to find the actual casing cracked around the top bracket. With lots of patience and being careful, I was able to remove the whole assembly and actually removed the top from the bottom and removed the motor. Again, what I wasn't expecting was the previous owner had work done on it and there was more broken plastic (which had been glued but is now broken)
Any suggestions?
Does anyone have a whole evaporated kicking around for sale? or perhaps the top cover?
My initial inquires into pricing for the whole unit ....was....very discouraging. Should have just put up with the squealing...and luke warm heat in the cabin :)

Re: Heater Blower and Evaporator
Any one know of a used parts distributor in Germany?
Rovers North were able to dig up some part numbers followed by "discontinued".....
I should add that I did find a new genuine evaporator from LR Direct (AWR1249).....but the price....$3900 Canadian..ouch.

Re: Heater Blower and Evaporator - Electrical Help
Help!
Ok..so after weeks of procrastination...I sent the motor out for R&R...the shop installed new brushes and cleaned it.
Did a bunch of plastic welding on the old evaporator and installed new hardware ....kinda fun and it seems to work as long as you're not fussy on how it looks.
Put the whole thing back together, back into the defender and installed new foam weather stripping on the firewall and wind side.
Started connecting all the wires, and went back into my phone to bring up the photo that I took before disassembly......only to discover it was a horrible, out of focus picture which is of zero help.
I now have three black wires left (I'm assuming they are all grounds but rather err on the side of caution and seek some help/advice)
Black Wire 1 comes directly from the heater motor - Is this a ground and can I just connect it to the firewall?
Black Wire 2 comes out of a wire bundle which originates from within the fire wall.... where does this one go?
Black Wire 3 comes out of the back of the Bosch Relay which is connected to the top of the evaporator. - where does this go?
PS: I don't know if the yellow wires are original or the previous owner had some work done. Regardless, there was a yellow, a red and brown wire which are connected.
Thanks in advance!
