Edmonton Defender advice wanted

#1 Post by CamelTrophyWannabe » Thu Jan 31, 2019 10:41 am

Hi guys,

I've wanted a Defender ever since I saw the Camel Trophy videos on youtube back in '06, but I'm in Saskatoon and thought getting one was a pipe dream. So I've been in contact with my car-savvy uncle in Edmonton to investigate this specimen for me and we're both a bit incredulous that it seems so cheap and yet no one seems to want it. Any thoughts? I want one, but can't afford a lemon right now, especially since it'd need a safety.

Thanks.

The price seems in the reasonable ballpark. An ex-MOD truck with a 200TDI conversion. It is typical for them to sell lower.

If you want an inspection and/or appraisal, contact the Sport Car Centre. http://www.sportscarcentre.ca/ They have Defender experts on staff.

I think this truck was owned by a chap in Saskatchewan. He was on the Alberta land rover forum, if it is indeed that land rover. You might want to post a note on the ALRE forum to ask more info about this defender.

It is owned by an ALRE club member in Edmonton. It went from one club member to another.

Thanks red90, I've called the shop and will definitely be using their services - thanks for the recommendation!

Edit: I got an endorsement on the Alberta site for this car, so it seems sound. I'll be getting an inspection before I make a final decision, however.

UPDATE

Kerwin informed me yesterday that the car has sold. He was able to sell it for $20,000, for those of you who may be wondering.

Thank you all for your time and advice, it was all very much appreciated! I'll be perusing the buy & sell section from time to time, so you may hear from me again.

Cheers,

CTW
