I filled up with Mowhawk 94 Octane 40+ litres, cleaned the air filter, replaced the oil, lowered the idle (it needed it), and "Failed".
I kind of expected it, but needed to know what to work on.
Driving Test
Passed on Hydrocarbons - 95 out of a Maximum allowable of 192ppm
Passed on Carbon Monoxide - .38 out of a Maximum allowable of 1.78 %
Failed on Oxides of Nitorgen - 2662. out of a Maximum allowable of 2201ppm
Idle test
Failed on Hydrocarbons 1959 out of a Maximum Allowable of 400ppm (could be why I'm getting crappy gas mileage) running rich?
Passed on Carbon Monoxide - .22 out of a Maximum Allowable of 4.53 %
I think it's time for a tune up.

you can add methyl hydrate to your tank, burns up completely and burns super hot (so you can get some complete combustion) . .anyways, for more info on that and other input (like running the gas you'd normally run) . . here's a link to a discussion on bc4x4
http://bb.bc4x4.com/printthread.php?threadid=29469
p.s. if you think you've got problems making it through aircare, my other car is a 68 chrysler with a 383, holley double pumper carb, and hooker headers . . try getting one of those through aircare!! =s As the aircare tech on the discussion says: "You pretty much just have to cheat your way through" . . I have a second downjetted "aircare carb" and then the timing just gets way retarded etc. so I can get through aircare before going straight back to the shop and adjusting it back to normal.
Also, once you pass, if you cancel your insurance and turn in your plates just before your renewal date, then you can just re-sign up with new plates and get another year before you have to aircare again (A friend with an original landcruiser told me that one)
One way or another, good luck, I feel for you! :)

Change your insurance...
Once you get your truck through see if your situation allows you to put collector plates on it and you won't have to air care again.
Good luck!

Dave... pickup a couple of 5L jugs of Aspen Alkylate Petrol 4T (4 stroke)... pricey, but well worth it... new product coming into North America from Sweden... working with a local company for a school research project. Meant for small engines, but it can also be used in vehicles in a pinch! Has a shelf life of up to 3 years.
It's about $20+ for the 5L, but I think you will be surprised at the results ;)
You can get a jug over at Arrow Equipment on Pemberton, talk to Hilary... make sure you are almost empty, dump in the 10 L, and go for a little drive to get the old fuel out of the lines...
Arrow Equipment Ltd. 1433 Pemberton Ave North Vancouver Ph: 604.986.3916
Quick summary:
Aspen 4T is the cleanest petrol that you can use. Aspen is made from Alkylate Petrol which is made from the gases from the top of the distillation tower which is then synthetically modified into a liquid again. The result is a petrol that is totally free from sulphur, benzene and aromatics (solvents). It is chemically inert meaning that you can leave the fuel in the machinery and your lawn mover will start next spring again. An added bonus is that it does not smell, the exhausts does not smell, it will not smoke and you are breathing a much cleaner air when you are mowing your lawn.
