Bring your truck!! would will not find a 110 (let alone a 2006) for less than $40KCDN, I'm sure a 2006 would be 100K.

if you imported your rover, you would have to pay tax, (lots of tax, this is canada after all) but after than its usually just an inspection and your on the road.

Insurance in BC is public, IE, all vehicles have to be insured with ICBC (just google it) so no discounts. (if you can bring a copy of your good insurance record, they might cut you s deal)

Hmm, snow and ice in vancouver? did you read the pamphlet?

:D just kidding, you can get all that in BC, but vancouver it only rains in the winter...

My advice, do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get your o6 110 into BC, its really the only way to go....

cheers,

Blair

He can't bring in a 2006 model. It must be at least 15 years old unless the exact model was sold here for that year.

I WOULD suggest though getting a 15 year old Defender, have it fully rebuilt and bring it in.

Check with Canada customs, when you move into Canada you are able to bring all your personal belongings no taxs or duty. (settler effects)
Do your home work, here is the customs site, good luck
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/general/faq/menu-e.html
The rules are differant when immigrating to Canada, bring as much as you can.I believe that there is no vehicle age restriction when moving into the country but you may have to have a vehicle inspection done $75.00
But again do your home work.
My 110 costs me about $1,100.00 insurance
One can get collector plates for anything over 25 years old, cost for insurance is $200 - $400 a year but that is a restricted plate
Parts for new and old are available.

Hope this helps

There are no restrictions as for as customs are concerned (taxes and duties). But the age restriction is always in place regardless. This is set by transport Canada.

Sure, that is pretty common. You just need the original VIN. Everything else can be changed. They don't care much.

I'd go diesel. Fuel prices are getting higher here by the day.

It is not a problem with the importing.

Licensing is by province and it is not a problem here in Alberta. Someone from BC will need to speak up if there are any concerns there.

Importing

Having just been through this myself bringing in a 110 it has to be over 15 years old. LH or RH is not a problem. My Australian 110 has just undergone a refit and is in a container to Cape Town right now for an expedition up Africa. Should be there by September 5th.

As a SA myself and familiar with your models I would try to find an early 110 built in the Cape with the standard galvanized frame. If it has not been used for beach fishing these are great trucks.

'n boer maak 'n plan obviously. You should have no trouble selling the second unit if you don't sink too much into it.
Our plan so far involves a six week circuit in Sep/Oct roughly CT, Augrabies, Kalahari Gemsbok Park, Etosha, Angola Border/Skeleton Coast, Caprivi, Chobe, Vic Falls, Wankie, Down Botswana to NW Tvl, Randberg and some business meetings in JHB. Then back to Cape down Natal and Cape coasts to get the dust out. Back in March for six weeks with putative route CT, karoo, Leshoto/Sani N Natal, Mozambique coast, Eastern Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania. need to find storage in Mombasa. We arerunning two 110s both 1984 one a HCPU with 300Tdi conversion and other Australian std Isuzu/LT95. Testing some equipment en route it's a tough job but somebody has to do it......
Need to fit a couple of heavy duty rear springs in CT. Know a good source?
Alles van die beste Ray[/img]
