oil filter conversions

#1 Post by just1rovernut » Thu Dec 14, 2006 10:44 pm

Hi all. we've got a 109 military ambulance that we want to modify to a spin on oil filter :?: . I don't believe the common aftermarket conversion will work with the military oil cooler adapter and even if it did clearance looks like an issue. I have found a spin on conversion that looks like the zs1 filter at the series one club. Has anyone seen a kit out there that looks like the original but for the series 11a. I need the 90 degree turn the originals have to clear the frame.

No, I didn't have the oil cooler.

It was a while ago, so I dont recall dimensions.

Best thing is to call the number on the link page, they are very helpful guys.

Good luck

Andy

There are different length filters with the same thread pattern. You could use the standard Rocky Mountain one with the shorter filter. I don't know the number for the filter but it would be easy enough to find by asking just about any mechanic or parts store.

You would have to use longer bolt but a 2.5NA diesel filter housing might work for you. You should still be able to use the Series oil cooler sandwich plate or you could us the 2.5NA diesel oil cooler system, likely better than the series one anyway.

I like the idea of the 2.5na filter. found a picture on the net and it looks promising. While not perfect it should help maintain the originality as it is used as a show vehicle as well as weekend tripper. Thanx for the help. now I just have to find one to compare to be sure. I've read stories of the original filter housings falling off.
