Evening all, New Forum member and second Landrover owner LR$ 2012, now defender 130 2004.
I've been warned to make sure to put an additive into my tank.

There are many additives you could use, Petrolabs comes to mind. They have one that I use to help emulsify the water that is inherent to the crappy biodiesel that we have.
The only company that gets away with good clean diesel is BC Rail (CN).
Petrolabs diesel power plus,
Stanadyne is another one.
Get a good water separator filter and you won’t need the additives.

We use Stanadyne in our 300TDi … silver bottle. Throw one in every few fill ups. Diesel Parts Canada sells em by the case.

I don't use any additives and I've never had a problem.

I enjoy this guy’s video (Motor Oil Geek) and he did one specifically on diesel fuel additives. Here’s the link

Short answer is that filtration is very important. Most additives will improve lubricity of low sulphur fuels. Cetane boosters will reduce soot and most additives will improve cetane levels on standard diesel fuel.
