It's a Hesp Automotive truck, as it says in the seller name, they brought it out to founders day, I quite liked it.

is it that bad for a complete restore and custom machining to mate a motor to the transmission and drive line

I agree with Ajjay, 1 took a close look at this Land Rover at Founders Day and they did a fantastic job with the conversion and restoration.
I'm not a big fan of electric vehicles, (especially Te#%$a) ... but seeing this one drive around almost has me rethinking :idea:
I would like to see it stay in BC but I doubt it will.

Looks wonderfully done except being 2WD. I’m not sure what stopped them including the front driveshaft.

Everything is good in moderation, including electric vehicles. Nobody is forcing anyone to drive nor purchase them, but I believe that everyone has a right to follow their interests. Indeed, I have a curious mind which welcomes advancements in technology.
I will admit, sometimes I feel old and resistant to change myself. I have to remember the past, to forsee the future: I try not to be scared of my typewriter, I can still use my quill, inkpot, and parchment! I try not to be scared of my keyboard and personal computer, I can still use my typewriter! I try not to be scared of my touch-screen smart-phone, I can still use my keyboard and personal computer! ..... ..... may we all live long and prosper!
And not be scared of change. It's slow and we still have choice and there's no threat here. Only smiles for miles and miles and miles. I don't have an electric car, and have only ridden in them a few times, never behind the wheel. But I will say using an electric chainsaw last weekend was quite the change, that is a great tool! And I have looked into cooking at camp with an electric stove to simplify and eliminate the need for white gas storage. I do use a few electric lanterns, they aren't as romantic to be fair. I added LEDs to my interior lights and now it's a lot brighter which is helpful. I used an electric portable battery today to power a drill while working in my land rover on the side of the street. I have an electric toothbrush which is satisfying and effective. I have ridden electric bikes before and they are amazingly convenient, especially for up hill assist! I think some mass transit technologies use electricity like skytrains and common bus routes.
Here in BC, we get a lot of energy from hydro, which is great, but not available everywhere. Of all places where electric cars could make sense in an ecosystem - this is it. I'll probably own an electric car one day.
