Founders Day and Sunday off-road run- Oct 5th & 6th 2024

#1 Post by ANDYD » Fri Sep 27, 2024 3:07 pm

Founders Day Saturday Oct 5th

What - Rover-Landers Founders Day - Indoor Land Rover Show at the Chilliwack Heritage Park
When - Saturday 5th October 2024, 10am to 4pm - drive-in parking between 10 to Noon.
Where - Chilliwack Heritage Park, 44140 Luckakuck Way, Chilliwack, (Exit 116 off Highway #1).
Why - To bring all Land Rover Enthusiasts together with their Land Rover Vehicles (All models welcome, old & new, shiny or dull, polished or dented).
What Else - $20 Vehicle Entry, Door Prize for the first 70 entries, Loaded Raffle Table, Parts Swap Meet, Awards & Prizes, Camping / Expedition set-up's, Kids Table, birthday Cake etc ...

Saturday Night - Back by popular demand... Chilliwack Camping is available on Saturday night for those from out-of-town or for those who want to remain in the area for the Sunday mountain run.
Camping is rustic but is located on a very pleasant perch on private land, suggested $20 by donation for each camping spot.
Let us know (post below) here if you are planning to camp and we will be sharing the location and more details soon ...

Off-Road Fun Run - Sunday October 6th

What - 1 day off-road run into the local mountains
When - Sunday 6th October 2024, meeting at 9.30am at the Esso Gas Station on highway 7 just before Deroche. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kx4475SBeCDrM4Eo8 Planning to be back on the highway by 4pm.
Where - Heading to the Chehalis Lake Area, which is a few km's west of Harrison Lake
Why - For the fresh air and adventure, let your Land Rover out-to-play with other Land Rovers (they love that!)...
What Else - Bring your lunch, drinks and snacks. Bring a camp chair. Lots of layers, it could get cold up in the mountains! Mostly light off-roading, nothing a stock Land Rover can not easily handle. Fill up with fuel before or when arriving at the meeting spot. departure is 10am sharp.

Hope to see you at both events, support your club, be involved, be active ...

Come to Founders Day and make this a family outing! The Chilliwack Thirift Market will also be held on this Sat at the Chilliwack Heritage Park. Their event will be held in the adjacent indoor arena.

This is what the same even looked like earlier in the summer:

I have the following confirmed for camping... I will continue to monitor the forum:

- AndyD
- ACG (Andrew G)
- RoadQueen (Deborrah)
- Amadreus
- Raveneye (Iain H)
- ChrisMac
- Binch (Bill Edmonton)
- GeogeLR

There are a few large shelters at the camp area if we encounter rain. The volunteers at the non-profit (that is hosting us) just roofed this large shelter this year.

Hey Andreas,

That's a great idea, as I'm not sure how much dry wood will be at the camp site. (We don't want anyone tossing the Giant Jenga Blocks on the camp fire!)
If anyone who is camping out on Saturday night has a pile at home or can pick up a bundle along the way, that would be great.
I will have my axe & chainsaw with me, just in case ...

Cheers,
Andy

Agreed, another great Rover-Landers weekend!

BIG Thank you Andrew & Carol for taking on the Founders Day organization, also all the helpers who pitched in early to get it all set up and ready to roll.
We had 60 beautiful Land Rovers in the show with a huge raffle table and lots of support from our sponsers with their donated prizes.
A shout out to all those that were in attendance for supporting their club and enjoying the big show.

We had 17 Land Rovers on the Sunday Chehalis lake run, which was a beautiful sunny October day. We traversed a good selection of rocky road and mud puddles before spending a relaxing afternoon lunch on the beach.

Lots of photos and some videos are now in the Gallery. Thanks to John C for taking on the Founders Day photography.

Cheers

Founders Day and Sunday off-road run- Oct 5th & 6th 2024

Had a fantastic time at the show seeing everyone and talking with everyone. Sunday’s run was beautiful to the sunny lakeside. But I did find the source of my “clunking sound” from the rear suspension area. Turns out my rear lower control arm broke at the bushing. But I wasn’t stranded and drove home and beyond. Thanks everyone. Thank Andrew, Carol and Andy.
