1998 Discovery 1, Automatic, 215141km
V8 automatic, CDL, 2” Lift, Snorkel, sealed air box, Ashcroft air lockers front and rear, ARB front bumper, ARB Compressor wiring harness (needs a compressor, previous owner kept it), Air manifold for lockers & onboard air, auxiliary lighting switches & wiring/plug and go!, rear ladder. BFG All Terrain tires on alloys.
Extras included: BRAND NEW TerraFirma rock sliders (never been mounted!), 5 steel rims and tires (7.5R16 - tall skinny tires from a defender), Service Manual (legit binder from Land Rover), various maintenance parts & pieces. Extra solenoids for the air system, binder with receipts and info from previous owner. Set of used PIAA lights to tap into the extra lighting circuit installed for the roof, NATO style Jerry Can & Mount, and a few other bits & bobs.
Issues: Catalytic converters were stolen, so running straight pipes to muffler (this throws the check engine light), and ABS light is on (likely a wheel speed sensor, abs is unplugged), needs an exhaust manifold stud replaced, headliner a bit droopy, rear bumper has a smile, needs a windshield washer reservoir/pump was removed by previous owner to fit ARB pump. Front right tire has a slow leak.
Will need a new battery, runs fine but doesn’t hold a charge beyond a few days. I’ve tried it totally disconnected from the vehicle while parked and still looses charge so not a random draw.
Usual rust at rear sills and wheel arches, patched for now, but could use some attention in the future.
Chip in windshield at bottom edge.
A good running D1, with lots of great upgrades already done. A few random things to take care of, but nothing that’s too wild. No sunroof so no leaks!
I got it this summer, and haven’t been driving it much, mostly just around Hope, and a couple trips into Chilliwack. My situation has changed and I can’t really justify keeping two 4x4’s and our pickup truck is a better fit for family/work commitments.
This is my 4th disco, and I’ll be sad to see it go, it’s got some great adventures left in it and will make an awesome rig for someone.
