I imported this Japanese Discovery in 2017 with 60,000kms on it (now 108,000km) It has had expected updates like new exhaust, tires, window seals etc. and has been reliable the whole time. Now having imported a Toyota Hiace van I need to sell the disco which has resulted in my unhappy Land Rover spluttering to a stop in my driveway. I called a mechanic who suggested (after talking) that it is the alternator not charging, and I called Hesp Automotive (Land Rover repair specialist in Port Moody) who also suggested it sounded like the alternator not charging. I just had the alternator rebuilt and put back in but the problem seams to persist, to which they both said it was maybe the brushes not working, but still sounded like the alternator. I was going to ask $10,000 for it and now asking $6,500 for someone to take it on as is.
It's a 3.9 V8
