I am originally from Singapore. Spent part of my childhood (preschool) in Malaysia in the 60s. Came to the States in the late 80s.

Communism was a guerilla threat back in the time in the rural areas. In fact, one of my dad's friends (a judge and outspoken critic of communism) was gunned down when he went to pick up his newspaper at the gate of his home. I can understand the appeal of this local market flyer. Looks to be of the 60s / 70s vintage as Champion Motors was one of the prime dealership groups in Singapore and Malaysia at the time.

Both of my wife's uncles fought in that Emergency, one just received his medal of honour for it, bureaucracy exists everywhere. If you get to Malaysia and your interested in military stuff go to the Police Museum in KL and the military museum in Pt Dickson.
