Dear Bucket,
I pay around 12OO bucks for my insurance to and from work with four year safe drivers discount. It's a 1985 2.5 naturally aspirated ex-nato diesel 90 and it gets through aircare easily(dyno test aborted every time due to lack of power). In my very humble opinion you should always shop for a Landrover based on condition and features rather than model year. Some of the flashy paint jobs are some of the crappiest trucks. Regular service is key to condition, at the dealer if it is new enough. There are some good owners out there and some who suck the life out of these trucks and then blame the Brit car industry or Lucas to make excuses for their inattention. Personal preference plays a big part of any decision, if you want a strong bush truck try an ex military, if you need space a 110 is in order, if you have a tribe to carry around you will need a five door station wagon. If you want to pose or run with the H2 crowd get a flashy newer model. If your planning long trips try and get your hands on a 200 or 300 TDI. Spend some time on the internet shopping.
www.lrx.com or www.rock-island-rovers.com will give you a taste of what you can buy. My personal favorite for daily use would be an early 110 or 90 with the good birmabright alloy body(for resistance to corrosion) and galvanized body capping coupled with a later TDI with no rot in the floor wells or rear cross member.

Hey Bill,
Did Mr Bucket ever give you a reply? Are you now paying less for your 110 (Senior rates?)
