On Monday, 17th August, 1896, at the Crystal Palace, on the Italian Terrace, Mrs. Bridget Driscoll of Croydon was knocked down by a motor car and subsequently died. She was the first person in Britain to be the fatal victim of a motor car.
And to this day the “motor-car” is still being held responsible for the death, rather than the driver. Sad as it was, if only it had been a Land-Rover, the “motor-car” would have been going so slow she would have just bounced off and survived.

Is that Greta Thunberg to the left of the victim?
