SOLD - Projects - 1968 Series 2A 109" 2.6 NADA / 1970 Series 2A 109"
Hello Roverlanders,
After several years of carrying around my Rover projects from place to place, I have come to the unfortunate realization that between family, other priorities, and working on my daily driver, I never seem to have time to get around to working on the Rovers and it is time to pass them on to somebody that is looking for a project and has the time and ambition to bring some life back to them.
Before I go any further, here’s what I’ve got:
1. 1968 Series 2A 109 2.6L NADA #749/811. This Rover is in original condition (except that the engine and gearbox are removed) and in need of a complete restoration. The original 2.6 that was in the Rover was beyond repair when I got it. However, I picked up a replacement 2.6 to keep the Rover as it came originally (I was told that it was running when removed). With it also comes a stripped down 2.6, so there are lots of spare parts available to keep it going for many years. The frame is pretty rotten and in need of either replacement or significant repairs. The gearbox has a PTO on it. It is registered in BC.
2. 1970 Series 2A 109 2.25L. This Rover is a basket case – it is completely stripped down and ready to be put back together. The frame is repaired and completely solid – ready to hit the road for another 50 years. The engine is also currently stripped down and ready for a rebuild. There are lots of new odds and ends that come with it. The gearbox has a PTO. It is also registered in BC. This is a project that I picked up off a buddy several years back and just haven’t really gotten around to doing anything with it. It is ready and waiting for somebody to start putting it back together.
3. Spare parts – extra doors, cylinder head (I think it’s 7:1), suffix “D” gearbox, Koenig winch, Braden winch, seat base, 2 windscreens, bonnet…I’m sure there is more that I am not thinking of right now.
I am not quite sure how to go about selling what I have, since there are potentially 2 Rovers to be re-built and a whole lot of extra parts from another that was stripped down. I guess I would like to gauge interest to see what somebody would want out of what I have and go from there.
The 2.6 NADA is pretty easy to sell as a complete project to somebody as is. As for the 1970, I think it would be a shame to part it out and would like to sell it as the project that it is. However, if nobody was interested in taking on something like that, I would consider parting it out.
As for the spare parts, they could either be sold with the project(s) or sold separately. If somebody was to take on the project(s), I would rather give them the first crack at choosing what they want/need from the spares before opening it up to others.
I’m open to offers, but I’m not looking to give it all away either.
I’m located in Richmond.
Thanks for having a look and please feel free to PM me if you have any questions…
Chris
