Andrew Goh is having a few issues in Skagway

#1 Post by rgallant » Tue Aug 20, 2019 1:52 pm

Andrew's trip to Tuk has started out poorly his Disco is stuck in low range after much back and forth it appears eithers the actuation cable is bound up somehow. Rather than dismantle the console in Skagway and risk being broken down he is moving to Whitehorse slowly. It will take 6 + hours to make the trip, he is at the time of this post back in Canada getting close to Tutshi Lake.

If anyone has any suggestions on moving the hi/low lever on the Transfer case without pulling the console let me know and I can test on my 04.

You can disconnect the cable from underneath and then shift manually.

It could also be the shift interlock solenoid preventing it. Either the solenoid is broken or the neutral sensor for the transmission is not working.

You can remove the solenoid. It is four bolts and it pops right out.

Well he made it to Whitehorse and is right near the freightliner shop, turns out they are a client of his. They are going to pop it up on the hoist for him in the am. It appears at this point the cable is messed up, so in through the console or in the back past the e-brake drum. That had to a long 100 mile in low.

Anyone heard from Andrew? Did he continue or turn back?

He is home, once they got him to high he headed south, in the end no one made it. Andrew was the furthest north. Several dropped out right before they left. The team leader blew a U joint, at Ft Nelson and after hearing that Andrew had to head for the coast opted not to continue solo.
