Turn signal cancel rings for Classic Mini steering wheels on Defender

#1 Post by seatosky » Tue Apr 16, 2019 4:25 pm

Some of us are running the Classic Mini steering wheel on our Defenders - the one pictured below that fits right on the Defender steering wheel splines without any adapter hub.

Well, if you’re like me you lost your turn signal canceling when you did the swap. Minor annoyance but since I have a friend with a 3D printer we decided to fabricate a solution. The Mini wheel has a metal tang that doesn’t reach far enough in to the Defender’s steering column to fit, but there’s enough space for an adapter to fit!

These adapter rings are available for $20 and will drop right in without any further mods. It won’t affect the steering wheel seating (it’s slightly shallower than the space left once the wheel is tightened) and is strong enough to withstand the minor forces involved in canceling signals.

Available for pick up locally in Burnaby or mailed for another $2.50

I will update this post with the part number for the steering wheel in case anyone wants to order one from eBay UK. They are a great smaller replacement for the giant stock steering wheels fitted to the Defender and even feel nice, they are leather wrapped.
