After much planning and a stroke of courage I decided to plunge into my restoration of this lovely 1956 107" 5dr SW.
At first glance under the hood (no its not an actual rats nest  )
Just trying to get to the frame and compete my full assessment to have some idea of the mess I have got myself into
Tune in for more to come soon. Please dont hesitate to offer any friendly advice/ leads on parts/a shoulder to cry on...

Thanks for sharing your smart S1 LWB station wagon, and good luck with the rebuild. I see this has a SU (possible Stromberg) carb fitted to the 2.0l engine. I’ve seen this on a few Series ones.

😮 that is some nasty rust right there sir. I think you might need to find a frame.

Ouch! I think the word "might" is a bit of an understatement. Unfortunately 107" frames are not the most common spare found.
This firm has a number of rebuild replacement sections. Shipping from the UK can be a bit pricey though.

I'd check in with Ike Goss at Pangolin https://pangolin4x4.com/home He owns a couple of these gems. He may be able to help sourcing the frame if your's is truly past fixing it. The 107SW is a very unique frame because it doesn't match the 109SW made in 1958/59 and is different from the 107 truck. The rear cross member is unique only to the 5 door SW version. Lots of other parts are very source-able. Do you have the rest of the roof and safari skin?
I dove into a restoration of a 107SW a little while back... so much fun. Happy to answer any questions I can or point you in the right direction for things I don't know. I do know that is the incorrect carb for the 2L engine. Minor problem at this stage! ;)
Here's some pix of mine. Keep the updates coming!
