Wheels Event - Off-Road Run - Sat, 6th October

#1 Post by ANDYD » Mon Sep 24, 2018 7:34 pm

Hi All,
Each year the Rover-Landers hold a joint "Wheels Event" with the Land Rover of Richmond, this year it is being held on Saturday 6th October. It will be a one day run up to North Chehalis Lake for lunch. This run is classed as "light to medium off-road which will be a great opportunity for those with newer Land Rover vehicles or for those who haven't done too much off-roading and are looking to get some practice. We will also like to have some seasoned veterans who are willing to share their skill & tips and lend a hand to those who may need it along the way.
Let me know as early as possible if you wish to attend, I will be making a list of participants, numbers are limit.

What - Land Rover WHEELS Event
When - Saturday 6th October 2018 Meeting at 9.30am at the Sasquatch Inn, back on the road approx. 4pm
Where - West side of Harrison Lake to Mystery Creek to North Chehalis Lake
What Else - Fun Light to Medium off-road, shared event with Land Rover Richmond, Family Friendly, Sociable lunch at Chehalis Lake, Land Rover only event, pre-registration is required, limited numbers (first come first served).

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,

I would live to join in on the run assuming that I can get my truck sorted out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

Hi Andy, I'll be there with one or two extra passengers if that's ok?

Hi Andy,

My truck is still in the shop awaiting the arrival of my transfer case from the UK. It looks like I am not going to be able to make it this weekend. Enjoy the run!

Hi Andy

Sorry for the late cancellation Colin and I are unable to attend we were coming over in his 110 for the event then possibly swinging by Jeremys to pick up a huge parts order for my new Dormobile. But the parts will not be ready so we are not coming.
I was hoping it would all come together parts and a drive and a great lunch.

Good day and the final flat tire got on the tow truck at 8:30. He had a good spare but the locking nut key broke so no getting the tire off. The tow truck removal tools were too small for land rover wheel nuts.

We tried about 12 plugs but could not get the tire to hold air, two bad slits. The 4 friends were fine and had a good time in spite of flat and associated tow charge.

We limped the truck for 5k on the flat and the tire stayed on the rim, it is still on in the picture just a bad angle

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the update, awesome that you stayed until the tow truck arrived, nice job!

Apart from two flat tires the day was a great success, beautiful warm sunshine and lots of keen participants enjoying the adventure. We had 22 Land Rover on the run, some nearly 30 years old and some only 30 days old!

Big Thanks for the Rover-Lander participants for helping the day go smoothly.
Cheers,
Andy
