I have an opportunity to pick up a ‘95 RR classic lwb for quite cheap (@$500), its been mostly sat for about a year due to the fuel pump failing. Still starts, but isn’t reliably getting fuel. Owner just wants it gone.
Otherwise it looks in overall decent shape, no strange leaks, a bit of rust on the liftgate, and the rear floor is solid. Its on coils not airbags.
Are there any things I should be aware of or lo King for? I also have a ‘99 disco 1, so am comfortable with aging rover quirks.
Thoughts on a ‘95 RR Classic LWB....

Re: Thoughts on a ‘95 RR Classic LWB....
My first rover was a 95 classic LWB. I got rid of it when on the freeway doing 120 the computer that controls the seat decided to tilt the seat all the way forward and then push me into the steering wheel. If you do get it, I recommend finding ALL the ground points and cleaning them up and coating them with dielectric grease. That vintage is when they started to computerize everything but before the auto computers had gotten super reliable. Also the frame on the rear glass rusts, the spot behind the bottom of the rear doors rust, the drain for the sunroof plugs and then floods the passenger foot well, which then rusts. The air suspension when it works is fantastic, until it doesn't, but you don't have to deal with that. On the 95 if the brake light switch fails it won't let you take it out of park. That auto transmission is not the strongest and tends to blow out the forward A clutch around 180,000 kms. The stereo has a cd changer in the back that tends to get stuck looking for discs and then kills the battery all the time, which then kills the alternator, which is expensive. I had my steering box rebuilt twice and it still leaked oil. Apparently there is a seal that is put in backwards at the factory, and all the documentation tells you to put it in the wrong way, but I never got it sealed right.
Other than that, they are great.

Thanks for the reply! Ill look into the stuff that you mentioned.
Thats funny you should mention the seat control....I noticed that this one was all the way forwards and leaning way forwards too. Was wondering what was going on there.
The brake switch is the same as the disco brake switch I beleive, which is good to know about, thanks, i have a couple of spares so will keep one in the truck if I do get it.
I didn’t check the rear door areas for rust, ill have a look at that too.
