1952 Series 1 80"

Good condition. No rot in frame or bulkhead. A bit of surface rust here and there. Was used mostly in Trout Lake, BC to explore the mountains. All there. PM me for more info. I'll try to post a few pics.

Ah, reminds me of how I found my '52 80", long ago. Front fenders even mounted almost the same way. :D

3000ish. Very solid for the year. Doesn't have a wiring harness because I was in the midst of taking it apart to convert it to Toyota drivetrain. I stopped because it was going to be too involved. Plus, it is great shape and mostly original and it would be a shame to wreck that. Lots of character. Needs a bit of welding on the front of the frame where it had some plates welded on (kind of looked like hoops to attach a hitch to flat-tow it, but way more sketchy!). The fist weld had better penetration than I thought it did! It has the seats for the back, but not the front. It has the plate for a Capstan, but it wasn't there.

If I don't get any bites, does anyone have a 2.0L they want to trade a 1.6L for?

I'm confused. Why do you need a 2L?
For a '52, the engine s/b a 2L Siamese bore with a bypass oil filter on the exhaust side.
In '54 they went to a 2L Spread bore with an oil filter on the intake side.
From your pictures it looks to me that it is a 2L, although it looks like there isn't a vent on the intake rockerbox cover.
What's the serial number on the engine?

It is a 1.6L. I read the stamping when I first got it. It is a '51 motor. I should have the Siamese bore engine. This motor does not have an oil filter on it, that's what made me confused in the first place.

For '51 in LHD, the serial number should start with 1613 or 1623. A '52 would be 2613.
Both engines had a bypass oil filter under the exhaust manifold. Some owners would just remove it and plug the holes. (Mine was that way when I found it.) However, some of the early 1.6L's also had an oil filter mounted inside the crank case, bolted through a hole on the intake side of the case.
'51 1.6L's & all 2L's, intake rocker box covers, should have a breather at the top front. Earlier 1.6L's didn't have the breather on the intake rocker cover, but I'm not exactly sure when they switched covers.
Also the 1.6 had a cast aluminum oil filler tube bolted to the exhaust, rocker cover plate, whereas the 2L had a steel tube welded to the plate.

In your engine pic, it looks like someone used some of the 2L parts on the 1.6L.

I found the oil filter system you mentioned when I was trying to find the block numbers again. The block is stamped 16135622. I wish I was more familiar with these vehicles because it would be a lot of fun. I also don't want to get into another rebuild. I have rebuilt a samurai (twice, darn rust), built one tracker out of two, and was part way into a Willy's M38A1 when I decided I had had enough. I want to get an old Toyota pick-up and tinker, not rebuild. I have only posted this vehicle on this forum because I don't want it to be ruined with other parts. It just needs a rebuild. Seals, bearing, brakes, etc... I just don't have the time, money, or patience. Somebody out there must want a Series 1 project.

Sorry, I was being greedy. The price is $2000ish. I don't like the rising cost of older, cool vehicles and I was trying to contribute to that by having a higher price. I apologise. Two thousand is a better price. Thanks.

Actually, after doing some hard thinking after posting this ad and seeing what else is out there for vehicles to fart around on, I have decided to keep this rig. I got to do a little toodling on it yesterday and after pulling almost all of the front end of my Tacoma, just to check the water pump, I was reminded how simple and enjoyable old vehicles really are. So, it won't be restored, but it will be enjoyed. I apologise to anyone who hoped to get it.

By the way, does anyone have a Series front axle that doesn't need every bearing and seal and brake part?
