Easter weekend outing?

I'm getting a little anxious to get back into the woods! Is anyone interested in a little outing this coming weekend? How about it Rob and the rest of the up island crew?

I can not get away from train driving on weekends till May 7th for the Sanichton British show, I do have that day booked off.
If you guys go have fun, and bring your snow shovel there is still lots of snow up here in the hills.

What about having a run down in Victoria or near Port Renfrew? Do you know any trails down there? I'm only free on Sunday, and it also depends on whether I can get my 110 back together before then.

Hi Oliver,

Got busy doing family stuff over Easter and didn't get back to the site. No places to go driving in Victoria. West of Sooke everything is gated. Closer to Port Renfrew is a bit better but again lots of gates, and those roads that are not gated are being actively logged.

I came around a corner on the road to Shawnigan Lake a few months ago and almost ran into a yarder working right in the middle of the road. Couldn't get passed and had to back track to the "scenic" route to Lake Cowichan.

While in port Renfrew I did take a walk up to Avatar Grove - it was pretty cool and worth a look if you are in the area.

I live up at Horne Lake now and have key access to some of the gated Strata/logging roads...

I'll do some exploring and report back if there is interested in doing a run up this way in the Spring.
