Whipsaw Trail final cleanup of the year

#1 Post by DaveB » Mon Sep 26, 2005 1:30 pm

October 22 & 23rd, 2005

Previously planned for this date was an overnight trip to Norton Lake. But with our participation in stewardship of the Whipsaw trail, we want to have one final run through the Whipsaw before the snow closes it to vehicle traffic for the winter. Meet at Granite Creek campsite, Coalmont for a 10:30 AM Saturday departure. This is about a 3.5 hour drive from Whatcom Road Exit of Highway 1. some are heading up and camping Friday evening, and others are driving up early Saturday. Either way, you might want to post below your intentions. Saturday night we will camp at Wells Lake. Be prepared for a very chilly night.

Hi Paul / Dave,
Any chance of getting some new signs/posts to replace the vandalized ones?

That way, when the winter snow melts the signs will be there ready for the new spring 4x4 traffic......just a thought

I'm looking forward to the trip :D

There is a thread over on BC4X4 that's worth a read. Original poster was Kris.

http://bb.bc4x4.com/showthread.php?s=44 ... genumber=1

Anyway, the Princeton RCMP was contacted about the Subaru in case it was stolen, providing him the license plate we found in it, as well as the VIN number.

He has contacted the owner of the Subaru to encourage its removal. He noted that the license plate we found did not belong to the Subaru, and may have been a donor from one of the vehicles that helped destroy the Subaru. Anyway, from the sounds of it, both were local vehicles, and the officer was grateful to be notified, and for our contributions to trail maintenance.

From the thread on BC4x4, the Subaru owner is saying they will be removing it shortly.

Wes, you're heading up there next weekend, right? Can you let us know if it was actually removed and the surrounding meadow cleaned up?

thanks, Dave
