Land Rover announces a new Heritage Restoration Program

At the closing bell of the Defender assembly line last Friday, Land Rover announced a new Heritage Restoration Program. The program, which will be located in the same building as the current Solihull production line, will employ a team of Land Rover experts to oversee the restoration of Series Land Rovers.

The Land Rovers, sourced from across the globe, will go on sale in July 2016. The project will initially begin with the restoration and sale of early Series Land Rovers. The core Heritage Restoration team consists of 12 employees, ten of whom will be transferred directly from the existing production line. Combined, the twelve employees bring 172 years of Land Rover production experience with one employee, Tony Martin, having worked in the Land Rover factory his entire life, just like his father and his grandfather before him.

Tim Honing, JLR’s Heritage Director said: "Land Rover Heritage will be offering cars, services, parts and experiences for all owners and fans around the world. Our new restoration service and the sale of expertly restored Series I vehicles is just the start of making sure that classic Land Rovers are not only part of our past but part of our future."

To those looking for a piece of the action, expect prices in the high five figures and very limited quantities.
