With the pile of stuff that came with the 88 I recently received, I found -- I think -- all the bits of a Koenig PTO driven capstan winch -- exactly like in the following page:

Here are some pics of the one in my garage:

Anyone have any experience with this kind?
Thanks,

Re: Koenig PTO driven capstan winch
That is a drum winch not a capstan.

Those Koenig PTO driven drum winches are the best of the best.
Good catch!
Only one draw-back; you cant have a overdrive as well. Too bad- mount the winch.
I have one on my 109 and have used it quite a bit. It pulls very well and exceeds the advertised 8000# load. Try that with an electric winch. It won't happen! It will also pull all day and not tire. Try that with an electric winch. It won't happen! It will hold over 150' of cable, a lot over 150'. Try that with an electric winch ... It's quiet. Try that ... It goes fast when you want to wind it in. ... It goes slow when you want it to and you can adjust the line speed. ...

Excellent, thanks. My plan was taller tires, not an overdrive, so it works out :)

I have restored one of these winches recently. If you need any help let me know. I have most of the oil seals, u joints and bearing part numbers.

We explored Malaysia with a friend who had one of these on a series 3, it ran all day with no complaint. Really an awesome winch.
